Terra Vitae is an artificial-life game. Every animal in it is born from a genome: it wanders, eats, plays, sleeps, courts, raises young, grows old and passes its traits on. I’m making it on my own, and this devlog is where I’ll share how it’s going.
Where it started
The first proof of concept had round, fluffy placeholder Pilosa drawn by the code itself, a flat floor and a few food pellets. Even then, they wandered, ate, played, slept, greeted each other and stood off against rivals.

Work in progress · in-gameWhere it’s up to
- The Pilosa (Pilosa amica) live in the World. They wander, eat, play, sleep, court, breed, grow old and die.
- Worlds can be saved and carried on later.
- Terra Vitae Studio, the editor the game is built in, has its world, item and species editors working.
- The Glabra (Glabra irata) is the next species, and it’s in development now.

The Glabra comes first. After it, more species from the concept art, including the Cryptica and the Lubrica. Videos of the game will follow soon on YouTube.
Everything you see of the game here is work in progress, so expect it to change as it grows.
